A Return to Health
This is one more story about the
dramatic and beneficial changes that adopting a plant-based diet can
have on our health. Joanne Irwin, a semi-retired social worker,
shares how a routine blood test revealed that her LDL [bad
cholesterol] level had skyrocketed far above normal. This increased
led her to consult with Dr. Kumara Siddhartha at Emerald Physicians
Services in South Yarmouth, who suggested she try a vegan diet for a
few months.
As Irwin says, the results were fantastic, “But since I
cut out meat, fish and dairy products, my LDL went from 170 to 69 in
four months. My cholesterol went from 246 to 74.
My friends noticed
a change in my energy and asked what I was doing differently. I had
changed my eating habits, nothing more. But my life has taken a
radical shift in a wonderful direction.”
