Huge Deli Meat Recall
Tyson Foods is recalling about 380,000 pounds (172 metric tons) of deli meat because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which could lead to listeriosis, a potentially fatal disease characterized by fever, headache, neck stiffness and nausea. The deli meat was shipped only to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and according to Tyson Foods this recall is just precautionary.

One more reason to transition to a plant-based diet is the avoidance of many contaminants that are common in animal products. These are produced in such quantities and at such speed that without clear regulation and enforcement, supervision and inspection, contamination is meant to happen.
