Third Largest US Meat Recall in History
Cargill Inc. is currently involved in the third largest meat recall in U.S. history with nearly 36 million pounds (16,300 metric tons) of ground turkey being pulled off shelves after a salmonella outbreak was linked to one death and more than 70 illnesses in 26 states. However, the sad reality is that factory farming is a system than thrives on secrecy and unethical practices, thus causing unimaginable suffering to farmed animals while putting our health at risk and destroying the environment. Hopefully, due to this massive meat recall, more people will realize that eating meat is not only not necessary, but risky and uncompassionate.
