Julia Galef, writer, public speaker and member of the board of
directors of the New York City Skeptics, a non-profit organization
promoting science education and critical thinking, writes a very
compelling article that will help the reader understand that his/her
food choices, have a great impact on animals.
Galef argues that in order to reduce as much the number of animals
slaughtered for food, one needs to give up eggs first, because of the
unwanted male chicks and the caloric content of eggs vs. meat. In
addition, she argues that although the number of animals killed for food
is important at the time of making decisions, the amount of suffering
should be taken into account as well. To read the article please visit
Want to Kill Fewer Animals? Give Up Eggs:

Indeed, egg-laying eggs are the most abused of God's animals in the
food industry. They suffer tremendous pain, confinement and fear from
birth to death, which is usually about 18 months. The extent of
exploitation of these creatures is unimaginable and unacceptable. In the
eyes of egg-laying hens, humans represent the devil. If we believe we
share God's essence of love, shouldn’t we show love and compassion to
God's farmed animals?
