One of the longest and most comprehensive studies on the link
between meat and cancer was carried out by scientists at Harvard.
The study concluded that red meat consumption was associated with
living a significantly shorter life (increased cancer mortality,
increased heart disease mortality, and increased overall mortality.)
Dr. Frank Hu, professor of nutrition and epidemiology at the Harvard
School of Public Health and co-author of the study published in the
journal Archives of Internal Medicine said, "What is surprising is
the magnitude of risk associated with very moderate red meat
consumption."... "I think the public health message is pretty
straightforward, we should switch from a red meat-based diet to a
plant-based diet with healthier protein choices."

It's so absurd to hear people say "everything in moderation"!
What about violence, abuse, terror, disease and suffering in
moderation? As stewards of God's Creation we should strive to end
suffering, abuse and violence to the best of our abilities. Even if
a serving of red meat once in a while might not seem to affect
health significantly, we should still take into account the
suffering of God's animals and the environmental devastation on the
planet. As Dr. Dean Ornish says, "What is personally sustainable is
globally sustainable. What is good for you is good for our planet."
