1. Activist Feedback
A. Robin writes:
I just wanted to let you know that I have been going to a
different church every week here in Stamford, CT and giving the
pastors the CVA literature and talking to them about spreading the
word to their congregations. Most people have been very receptive,
with a few exceptions. I feel like I am making some progress!! - have
a great day!
Comment: There are so many ways to spread the
word, including leaving booklets at a table-one table (Catholic
churches are particularly receptive to this kind of outreach); showing
the CVA’s 28 minute video Honoring God’s Creation (and using our
teaching guide), and of course leafleting at Christian events.
B. Rick, who leafleted at Winter Jam in Kansas City, writes:
Weather was downright nasty in Kansas City. About 80% of the
booklets went to kids. Many of the kids were huddled together
under blankets which gave leafleting a bit of a twist. One adult
asked me if I thought Jesus ate meat. I said yes, at least for
fish. Then he asked me if I thought Jesus would eat meat today,
and I said no. He asked further, did I think that Jesus would
eat fish today, and I said no. I gave out 925 booklets, although
my fingers were not entirely cooperative.

3. Quotation
Only in objective awareness of our
dependence on God can we hope to be delivered from judging and thus
despising...and thus oppressing our neighbor.”
Ronald Goetz,
theologian and former editor for the Christian Century
Comment: I think this relates to my recent essays on recognizing,
loving, and accepting what is despicable in ourselves. If we are to
accept on faith that God forgives our trespasses, then we must accept
that our neighbor is also forgivable.
– Stephen R. Kaufman
