Our Silence About Animal Abuse Promotes Abuse of Humans
Comments by Frank L. Hoffman - 24 Aug 2003

Dear Sierra and Others:

I don't believe that "desensitize" is the proper word, for there is a vast difference between not caring and being able to see beyond the horror to the relief from pain and suffering that we seek to bring.

For many years "Hashell" (the woman who sent us the letter) buried the pain inside and it devastated her. Now she speaks openly about it in an effort to bring it to an end. In the process she is bringing about a self healing.

I believe that a vital part of bringing about a change in a person's lifestyle is to expose him or her to the truth in a way that is somewhat emotionally disturbing.

This is one of the primary reasons we published our Animal Exploitation Photo Journals

Almost every day people write to us and tell us that they didn't realize how bad things were and that they can no longer eat meat.

It emotionally disturbs both Mary and me every time we publish something like this, but we know that whatever we feel, it is as nothing when compared to the constant misery of the animals, as well as many humans.

Keep your spiritual eyes on the vision of hope, and work at achieving it in any way you can. It's like climbing a very tall ladder. It's easier if you look up rather than down.

In the Love of the Lord,
