Animal Exploitation and the Journey to Veganism

I do not believe in religion, but I have 4 household bunnies who roam as a normal pet would. One of the bunnies, one is Honey who travels with me on my road trips. She likes to sleep with me and I awake each morning to her sitting on the pillow next to me.

I have learned that these bunnies have emotions, they can get mad and angry, they love and they care, they reason and can understand what you tell them. All last night I wondered why would they use bunnies?, because bunnies have no vocal cords. They feel pain, and big time, but can't tell you.

Honey, when I rescued her from a shelter, was so terrified of people, it took me a year before I could be allowed to touch her. She had found a way to scream and scream in terror. From that to sleeping with me has been a long journey, one that wasn't planned.

Her hubby had gotten a kidney infection, and was paralised in the hind end, and we built him a wheel chair to get around with. When one day he told me he had had enough, I asked the vet to come over and help me over dose him on narcotics rather than putting him down. I had done that with a cat, and she felt it. That one millisecond, she felt it and I swear I will never do that again. So Mr. Cocoa Bean was finally with out pain for an hour till we gave him more. Guess that is why Honey has become so close to me.

She was brought in for him. He was so happy running between us, back and forth, so pleased to find there were others just like him, and female to boot !!. I have a photo framed with him in his chair, so pleased he could get around again without having to drag himself with his front feet. Watching him drag himself to the litter box to be a good bunny, just tore me to pieces.

Honey, has been in 206 hotel rooms with Comfort Inns and 73 hours at sea, and never had an accident. She will even sit on the couch and watch TV. her favorite thing to do. No lady sits on the floor.

I have this thing with animals where they don't seem to fear me, wild or household. They trust me to care for them and don't know what fear is. I had to turn my head away from the first few photo's of what they are doing to them.

If only there was a career to be had to protect them and other's. Thus is my family. I have no parents brothers or any relation. These guy's are my family.
