I do not think the God of Israel, who is the Creator of all beings and whom Jesus called Abba, ever told the Jews to sacrifice animals. The Jews wanted to kill and eat animals or sacrifice them as an offering and for their insistence Moses had to sort of back up.
However, God, whom we worship never, ever told any human being to sacrifice any animal or any human for any reason for the very same Lord, clearly said, " I desire mercy not sacrifice." What make pure, scientific and vegan Christianity the one and only heaven born and universally applicable Religion is its perfect God that never changed.
This perfect God is Divine Love and cannot possibly tell any human being to sacrifice and compromise any animated being for this or that reason. But the Jews misread many signals or insisted on doing things the human ways and wrote their own version of things and did them.
This however never ever changes that God never compromised nor allowed the sacrifice of animals at any time on earth.
