This looks like the same discussion that went on here a few months ago.

If I'm understanding what Maynard is saying, I agree that no one can say EXACTLY how much PETA (or any organization, for that matter) has done to help or hinder. The unfortunate thing about PETA is, as Mike mentioned, the extreme incidents that have turned off people who may have otherwise been more apt to go veg. When responding to newspaper editorials, I have looked at many other comments and, unfortunately, many people who have been turned off by PETA's approach seem to lump all animal rights/welfare people into one big PETA lump.

That being said, I have used some of their literature, but I prefer not to use it in all venues. I really think it boils down to a matter of personal opinion. As I remember, the last PETA discussion here ended up with probably no one giving in. Doesn't that mean that we again need to just agree to disagree and carry on with our work--no matter what organization(s) we support to do so?
