Dear Susan:

We're sorry to hear about Leo, and your deep feelings of loss. We've been there many times ourselves. Don't worry about the heartless comments of others. We have some animal stories on our web site, and we'd love to add Leo's and your story, with some photos, if you're so inclined to write one.

You're not overly concerned. You're a normal compassionate person, unlike the people who have hardened their hearts.

The concern you expressed for small "pets" is right-on. It is cruel.  Since your birds would never survive in the wild, your loving care is the best thing for them, and if you have a room where the birds are free to fly, that would be great.

We also been concerned with feeding animal products to our companion animals, such as dogs and cats. Our dog became vegan very easily, and lived to an old age, only to die from complications from an insect bite. The cats were not that easy, and we never got them to become completely vegan, and they all lived to be nearly 20.

At the present time we don't have any companion animals.

Have faith in the sensitivity and discernment that God has given you, and follow through on your convictions.

In the Love of the Lord

Frank and Mary
