Hi,
I read your information page about how hunting artificially raises the herd
population by killing bucks and reducing food competition and thus creating
more fawns born. But what I did not see addressed is that yes, nature takes
care of itself, however, the deer's natural predators have been removed
(wolf, cougar, bear) so it is an unnatural situation. I do not want to kill
the deer either but the DNR's take is this- we have removed the top tier
predator so now we have to be the top tier predator to manage the deer. What
do you say to this argument?
I am a strict vegan in a naturalist program and deer "management" is a
hot topic. I keep asking myself, "What would Ghandi do?" but there wasn't
this problem when Ghandi was alive. I am sure he would come up with
something peaceful though.
Sincerely,
Andrea
