Does Stopping the Slaughter of Downed Animals Help to End Animal Suffering?
Comments by Frank and Mary Hoffman - 7 Jun 2007

Dear Gene:

Why do you consider what happens to downers to be more egregious than what happens to other farmed animals? To us, there's not a whole lot of difference, and this is why we have our mixed emotions about this particular aspect of the over all atrocities surrounding the farmed animals industries.

If we publicize the torture and suffering inflicted upon downed animals, as just one example of the over all suffering inflicted upon animals by the farmed animal industry, we believe we will accomplish the same goal.

What we are concerned about is that passing such a law would give flesh eaters a an erroneous "feel good" sense that things are now "humane" and they can go on eating their pound of flesh without feeling guilty.

We want it to all stop!

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
