God and Suffering
Comments by Juli - 12 Jan 2009

Elaine, that is exactly the kind of terrible suffering I mean, and it's more than that; I myself can't believe God causes it, but that I believe that the greater the suffering, the stronger God's presence with those who suffer. I think that may be the only thing that makes such suffering bearable at all, for humans or animals.

The only thing I would state differently (though I know what you mean-- we take so much for granted) is that I don't think we have it too easy in America, but that other people have it too hard in other places and I wish they all could have it at least as easy as we do.
