David Ludwig: A Case of Violent Results from Being Taught Violence
Comments by Frank and Mary Hoffman - 26 Jan 2006

Dear Wayne:

We agree that God's heavenly will has been pushed out of this country and also the world, but we don't believe that our understand is the same as yours.

We know that there was no death in Eden before the Fall (God's intent), and we likewise know that there is no death in heaven (Revelation 21:4), which is obviously part of God's heavenly will. So, when Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven," He wanted us to live that way, too.

The Hebrew Testament you keep referring to is about the fallen world, and God's interaction with the people in an attempt to bring them back into obedience with His will. This also includes the concessions He permitted. However this all begins to move toward kingdom living with the latter prophets, and in the New Testament, where everyone is encouraged to turn away from all forms of violence.

We don't need to kill to eat, there are plenty of healthful and relatively inexpensive plant foods to eat. Such a diet is bringing our Father's heaven will to earth as it is in heaven.

As we said before, any act of killing or violence hardens the heart. It's not that hunting alone led David Ludwig to kill humans, but that he was more prone to use violence as a solution to his problems, because of his indifference to the pain and suffering of others, whether human or non-human. Violence never brings about a lasting peace; it only produces more violence.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
