Re: Daddy's Day by Cheryl Costello-Forshey
Not long ago, my daughter Amanda, forwarded this poem to her step dad. She also lost her dad when she was only six years old. He committed suicide. He left her a letter to let her know how much he loved her. I visualized her as the daughter with the pony tail. The one who never had the chance to have her dad visited the school.
I cried tears of sadness and remembrance of a husband, father of my children and grandfather of my grand children. I am so sad that our world is a broken world, a world that sometimes is so difficult to cope in.
Her step dad is a kind man and through this poem she told him that her dad will always live in her heart but that she appreciates his kindness.
Thank you for translating our sadness into words of love for a dad who loved us in his own unique way and who still lives in our hearts.
Today Amanda is a beautiful young woman of 21 years old. She is a second year university student.
