Mr. Hoffman,

I just finished reading your short article on Kip Kinkel. I realize you wrote it a few years ago but I still wanted to comment on it. I do agree with you that our society is violent.

Having said that, there are some things I would disagree with you on. I do not agree that our society just "accepts violence". I believe people in America don't want violence and do care about each other.

Most children who play violent video games are not violent. It is the children who already have problems that should stay away from violent TV or games. Violence hasn't just started since violent TV and video games came about. Rather, it has been around since the beginning of time!

Yes, I do think Kip would have still acted out violently if he hadn't had a gun, and would still be capable of a lot of damage.

While I do agree with you that guns should not be so freely available to ANYONE, I would also have to say that I believe the problem goes much, much, much deeper than that for the people who continue to commit these types of crimes.
