I think that MUCH of the (so called) "animal rights movement" is riddled with idiosyncratic personal agendas (such as the social movements grafted into advocacy which have nothing to do with the earth (our planet), animals, human diet and health, etc. And some of them are downright petty, and others are really put-offish.
Also: In Iowa a decade or so ago, the Catholic Bishops rose up in opposition to constructing hog slaughtering plants there because of the HUMAN public health issues, the nuisance issues from the bad smells, and the reduced quality of life such a construction would have meant to their congregants.
