Most people who read this story and see the pictures would probably be deeply saddened and outraged by this needless tragedy, sanctioned though it may be by tradition and culture.
For that reason, under the right circumstances it could be a constructive and thought-provoking one to share with those who think or act as if *our* traditions and cultural practices trump any moral concern for other beings. For some, this may cause the light bulb to switch on, or at least flicker a little.
I've been sharing it with this purpose in mind, and by doing so I feel that in some small way I'm honoring the life of this fellow creature whom we humans treated so terribly.
