Dear Friend,
We are delighted to share the news that Wales is on the verge of outlawing dog racing!
That’s right, on Tuesday Deputy First Minister Irranca-Davies announced that Valley Greyhound Stadium, the last remaining track in the country, must close its doors. In doing so, he recognized the growing trend of dog track closures occurring across multiple countries. Read his statement.
We offer our ecstatic congratulations to Chief Executive Officers Vanessa Waddon of Hope Rescue and Tim Doyle of Greyhound Rescue Wales as well as all the members of #CutTheChase Coalition for leading the way!
This stunning development follows December’s decision by New Zealand Racing Minister Winston Peters to phase out operations at all six Kiwi dog tracks citing "persistently high injury rates" and an industry incapable of reform.
The trend is with the greyhounds. In fact, Mark Ruskell MSP is set to introduce his new bill to outlaw dog racing in Scotland! We’ll be in touch with information on how to help lobby for his important legislation very soon.
Together, we can save the greyhounds.
