"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?

Raindrops - 11 Feb 2006
By Mary T. Hoffman

As Ive mentioned in a previous Blog, the weather here has been unusual for this time of year. Instead of snow, weve been getting rain. Heres something I wrote while still in bed very early on February 5th:

Falling raindrops sound so soothing,
Tapping out their gentle greeting,
Waking us this Sunday morning,
Sending all below a blessing,
Wrapping us in joy and peace.

On days like this we often hear people say, Its a miserable day! They fail to see the beauty and the blessing. After all, where would we be without the rain? Not only the beautiful scenery, but also our very sustenance depends on rainfall.
