A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Thankfulness – 24 November 2006
By Mary T. Hoffman

Just thinking about yesterday’s wonderful Thanksgiving Day experience fills me with joy. As we do every year, Frank and I enjoyed what I can best describe as little bit of Heaven on earth – the Mid-Hudson Vegetarian Society’s annual Thanksgiving Feast.

Imagine spending several hours with like-minded friends who share your commitment to bring peace and compassion to humans, animals, and the environment. Then add an absolutely fabulous array of gourmet vegan food.

The founder of MHVS, Rae Schlecht was there, as well as the President, Roberta Schiff. So many people work hard to make these gatherings such a success; and I am filled to overflowing with thankfulness for them. They are truly making a positive statement in this world.
