A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

The Humane Charity Seal of Approval – 25 January 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

“The Humane Charity Seal of Approval is the easiest way for donors to spot charities that are committed to providing vital services and care to patients or advancing research without the use of animals.”

If you’re like us, you want to make sure that the money you donate to charities does the most good without contributing to the suffering of animals – especially since so much of the biomedical research utilizing animals is not only inhumane, but unnecessarily duplicated, and has rarely alleviated human suffering beyond what could be achieved through other means.

In the eyes of more and more people, experimentation on animals is becoming archaic, unnecessary, and thoroughly distasteful. It also has the potential to harm humans, since results utilizing animals may not be applicable to humans. In addition, time and money are wasted on worthless, redundant animal experiments.

In my opinion, most research utilizing animals is merely subsidized sadism masquerading as “science.”
