"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Raunchy Ranches – 9 April 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

Have you noticed the interest in ranching by the newly rich and not so newly rich? It appears to be a new status symbol. Cattle and buffalo ranches, horse, sheep, and goat farms – even fly-in ranches trying to entice pilots!

The selfishness and self-delusion of some people know no bounds. Whatever the motivation – producing “organic meat,” milk, wool, entertainment, etc. – there is slaughter involved at some point. And we have yet to understand how killing can be called “humane.” Unless, of course, it is used to painlessly euthanize companion animals who are in pain and for whom painless death is merciful.

People need to wake up to the fact that involvement in such activities simply exposes the “low spiritual I.Q.” of the participants. Instead of becoming more civilized or enlightened, they choose to regress as raunchy ranchers ravaging the ranges!
