A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Buffalo – 2 May 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

Looking through a food cooperative (food co-op) catalogue, I came across an article titled “Organic Buffalo.” It was so full of disgusting, disturbing “doublespeak” that I had a difficult time finishing it!

Reading this twisted, warped commercial for the sale of buffalo meat made me lose even more respect for the company that printed it in their monthly catalogue. As I’ve written before, they’ve been touting more and more animal products using labels such as “organic” and “natural”; but this really reached a new low point.

All this makes me wonder: Who are these people who are so naïve as to believe that the “most simple and honest way” that they can help in the “restoration” and “revival” of “the buffalo herds” is with “one bite at a time”? Can you believe this?! Yes!

They actually used these words and more! And to use the word “honest” in this context is just too much! Since when is unnecessary killing “honest”?!

It’s obvious that many people want to be deceived and lied to, so that they can continue to indulge in products of cruelty and dishonesty without remorse.
