"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Best Friends – 29 July 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

On Friday we were happy to participate in an online “Webinar” in conjunction with the Best Friends Animals in Religion Planning Retreat. The topic of discussion was “10 Ways That Your Faith Community Can Help Animals.”

Best Friends Animal Society is based in Kanab, Utah where their shelter is located. True to their name, they are helping animals through adoptions into loving homes, building the movement to stop killing homeless animals, support of spaying and neutering, training people to help save more companion animals, and rescuing animals from emergencies and disasters with their Rapid Response Team.

With Animals and Religion, Best Friends is seeking to expand their efforts into the religious community to include ways of eliminating factory farming, experimentation and testing on animals, hunting and trapping, and animal abuse and confinement in entertainment.

Best Friends Animal Society endeavors to live up to their motto: “A better world through kindness to animals.”
