"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
Yesterday I wrote about the way the government undermines children’s
health by buying surplus animal products from the powerful animal
agriculture industry for use in school lunch programs:

The following article underscores the fact that government subsidies of animal products are detrimental to the public’s health:
A 25 percent decline in heart disease in Poland in the early 1990s coincided with the country’s switch to a market economy that ended government subsidies to meat. A switch primarily to vegetable fats and the increased importation of fruit were also seen as factors in the decline, according to a report made by a team of multinational researchers. The authors of the report noted that the decline was “apparently without precedent in peacetime.” (From 101 Reasons Why I’m a Vegetarian, Sixth Edition, by Pamela Rice)
As long as the government gives priority to lobbyists of animal exploiting industries over the health of their citizens, what do you expect!
