"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?

Uneven Playing Field – 1 September 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

Isn’t it interesting that a campaign to stop the use of the drug methamphetamine uses no holds barred, shocking graphic imagery to illustrate the horrible consequences on its victims who are caught in the clutches of addiction, but real-life photos and videos of animal slaughter are considered too graphic by the media?

It is obvious that “money talks” and the media are beholden to the wealthy, powerful animal agriculture industries.

It is also obvious that the local “Public TV,” claiming to be commercial free, refuses to air anything that may offend contributors (individual or corporate). However, they do not consider that their heavy use of programming that features the glorification of animal exploitation, such as rodeos (for children, no less!), ranches, etc., etc. may offend those who find such cruelty being upheld as something to emulate extremely offensive.

This also reveals the hardness of heart of the programmers, who by their actions, plainly show their support of the torture and suffering inflicted upon innocent animals who cannot defend themselves.
