A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Autumn Glory – 23 October 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

This time of year, the gorgeous autumn colors in upstate New York are truly breathtaking in their beauty. Here in the Hudson Valley, the banks of the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains to the west are aglow with colorful foliage – yellow, red, orange and bronze.

Here’s something I wrote in celebration of this magnificence:

Autumn Glory

(Written 23 October 2007)

Autumn colors at their peak;
Mellowness that I can feel
Deep down inside this time of year;

Leaves sail gently through the air
To join with others on the ground –
Yellow, orange, red, and brown.

I thank the Lord for giving me
A love for nature’s glory felt
With heart, as well as eyes that see.
