A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Letter to the FDA – 13 December 2007
By Mary T. Hoffman

This morning we wrote a letter to the FDA in support of the petition requesting regulation of egg carton labeling. To read the letter, visit:
Letter from Frank and Mary Hoffman to FDA about Egg Carton Labeling

Please keep in mind that the change in labeling requested in this petition is a “drop in the bucket” (more like a drop in an ocean!) when you stop to think about the absolute hell on earth that billions of egg-laying chickens are forced to endure.

The only way to stop the rampant abuse of animals is to stop eating any animal products – period! That’s what Frank and I did when we went vegan over 20 years ago. The benefits are enormous, not only in health, but also in a clear conscience – which is even more important.

As long as people buy animal-derived products, the abuse will continue; and efforts to improve conditions are just “band aids” on intrinsically cruel industries.
