"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
Here are four quotations attributed to Abraham Lincoln, our 16th President who was born 12 February 1809. I think you’ll agree with me that in today’s world these words of wisdom are more meaningful than ever.
“We live in the midst of alarms; anxiety beclouds the future; we expect some new disaster with each newspaper we read.”
“Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as a heritage of all men, in all lands, everywhere. Destroy this spirit and you have planted the seeds of despotism around your own doors.”
“The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.”
“My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth.”
