"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
I believe that the following two Bible verses, the first one from the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) and the second one from the New Testament, express the fact that there is no excuse for wrongdoing. People know when they are being unjust or cruel. This becomes very evident when people refuse to hear or watch something about other animals because they don’t want to face the fact that they are complicit in the cruelty that produces their “food” or their other lifestyle choices. Their attitude is: “Don’t tell me; I don’t want to know!” Then there are others (sadists) who choose to flaunt the fact that they contribute to the torture of God’s creatures. In God’s eyes they are all without excuse.
And what about those who, with hardened hearts, say that they believe in God and worship Him and that He has given them creation to do with as they please? I believe that they are also allowing themselves to be fooled by Satan, and are in an even worse spiritual condition than many others, since their lives present bad examples to those in the world around them.
Micah 6:8
8 He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of
you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?
Romans 1:18-20
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
