A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Thought for Today – 7 August 2008
By Mary T. Hoffman

“Parents usually educate their children merely in such a manner that however bad the world may be, they may adapt themselves to its present conditions. But they ought to give them an education so much better than this, that a better condition of things may thereby be brought about in the future.” – Immanuel Kant (1724–1804), German philosopher

The key to a better world for everyone, both humans and other animals, is positive change; and that can only come about when adults stop hardening the hearts of children by indoctrination into the status quo. When preserving “the way things have always been done” means hiding the truth and continuing the cruel treatment of the least among us, it is time for change.

To really help humans, other animals, and the environment, going vegan is the most positive action to take. Besides, it’s fun and easy, as well as healthful!
