"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
Even though autumn will not be here officially until the 22nd of September, I am enjoying the beautiful autumn-like weather and wildflowers that make their appearance here during late summer and early fall.
Yesterday and today, Frank and I took advantage of the ideal weather to
take long walks. Everywhere we looked, signs of this most enjoyable time of
year appeared in the form of New England asters, white wood asters (one of
the earliest blooming asters) and other asters, turtlehead, black-eyed
Susan, goldenrod, chicory, healall, bull thistle, sun flowers, and purple
loosestrife.
According to the weather reports, we’ll be having more of these ideal days coming up; so, while they last, we’ll be out canoeing and walking!
