A Mary T. Hoffman Commentary from All-Creatures.org

"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.

Election Day – 4 November 2008
By Mary T. Hoffman

Well, Election Day has finally arrived! And this morning we drove over to the polling place to vote. Unlike what you see on the TV news, there was no waiting in line at all here.

Afterwards, we drove over to the farm market where we bought some bell peppers and pears; then on to a supermarket and another store for romaine lettuce, a pineapple, a honeydew melon, bananas, potatoes, onions, cabbage, walnuts, broccoli, red grapefruit, carrots, butternut squash, green squash, collard greens, white vinegar, and tomato paste.

Then home again where we prepared a yummy lunch of sweet and sour Chinese-style cabbage, turnips, carrots, and onions (all cut in small pieces and cooked in the microwave oven) with a sauce flavored with ginger, turmeric, a little hot sauce, Barbados molasses, vinegar, and Bragg Liquid Amino, and thickened with corn starch. We served it over brown rice. This was accompanied with the large tossed salad that I had already made and refrigerated in the morning before going out.

If everyone would elect to live a vegan lifestyle, we truly would have peace on earth!
