It is disgusting and makes us sick scrolling past all the names of these horses who were so brutally killed. Then there are the ones who are thrown away by horse racing who often end up at the slaughterhouse — after what little they had left in their bodies had been used up by someone else.

according to The Jockey Club, which maintains the Thoroughbred registry.

last year, up from 1.25 the previous year.
How sick it all is. How tragic it all is. And not a single soul working in
horse racing has demanded that the killing end. They would rather kill
horses than their careers. But that is another story for another day —
maybe.

It is done primarily to feed Italians and the French who consider horse meat
a delicacy.
This country will never be anything but a third world country to our view
until it protects its horses from the horrors of racing and the
slaughterhouse and all the dreadful suffering that goes with it. There has
been absolutely no change, and no progress since we began defending horses
in 2007.
