Letter from Michelle Concerning Our Web Site Ministry and Christian Cruelty - 10 Jan 2005 - Part 2

Thank you for your response.

I wish that all Christians thought the same as you. I don't have any problem with Christianity, or any other religion in itself; it's when the treatment of innocent creatures becomes unfair; that outrages me. I don't understand how people can be so ignorant to the evil of animal cruelty. Eating their flesh, using them for experiments, wearing their fur! It's sickening. Do these people actually believe that they are the only species capable of feeling pain? Every mammal has a nervous system, just like ours. They feel everything we can. Maybe all these ignorant people need to catch up on their Biology.

I'm glad there are many people like you who feel the same way I do about animal life. I have two pets, and they're the world to me. If anyone tried to hurt them, I would defend them. I really think those scientists and fur makers and slaughterhouse workers are monsters. How else can they do what they do? A normal human being wouldn't have the heart to hurt and murder animals like that, nor stomach the carnage.

I used to be Christian myself, but decided it wasn't the right path for me, and a lot of the reason was because of the way Christian people treated not only animals, but other people as well. I became frustrated, and eventually turned myself away from the whole Christian community. It's these reasons that a lot of people I know turned away from Christianity or hate Christians in general. Me, I hate those who hurt the innocent.

I don't blame a particular group, even though it seems the majority is from one group. I still remain open-minded to the fact that not all Christians deserve to be blamed because of what the majority thinks. You have made me see that, and I'm sure you got your message through to many other people that not all Christians are ignorant about animals.

Thank you for your compassion towards all life, and I hope you will be able to get that message through to everyone whom you encounter, be they Christian or not. Good luck to you, and God bless.

Response from Frank and Mary Hoffman

Dear Michelle:

Thank you for your follow-up comments. The more people who speak up about Christian "hardness of heart," the more pressure is brought upon them to rethink their position.

We are always publishing new items on our web site, which we hope you will look at from time to time; and please tell others about our web site.

We look forward to hearing from you again.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary

We welcome your comments
