Letter from Karen Bourne Concerning the Abuse of Animals - 31 May 2005

I have just read U.S.D.A. Marshal Smith's article on "Why Animals Continue to be Abused", and feel helpless. A Petland has just opened in Fernandina Beach, Florida. I belong to a dog rescue in Fernandina Beach, and several other rescues including the Nassau Humane Society. I would like to educate the people here on puppy mills. But why bother when we can't compete against the big corporations? How can we fight puppy mills when the big money and government agencies are all in it together?

Dear Karen:

Thank you for writing, but don't give up; there is hope.

You're correct about the problems of big money and how they seem to buy approval for their evil ways. They've been doing this for many years behind closed doors and the media has been reluctant to report on these things because they are afraid of losing their advertising money. But today, the Internet has provides us a way to expose the truth to the public, just as you found this article.

Tell everyone you can about the abuse and corruption, write letters, create hand outs, and publish whatever you can on the Internet. Ask others to do the same. By educating the public to the truth, we can change public opinion and force an end to the abuse and corruption.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
