Letter From Jenny Moxham about Eating Animals and Water Usage - 2 May 2007

A letter in the Bendigo Advertiser, Australia

02 May 2007

Shun meat and save buckets of water

IT is indeed admirable that John and Hedy Baron are trying so hard to save water by carting endless buckets of water from bath and shower: The Advertiser, April 20, Couple limit their water use.

This method of conserving water is obviously taking its toll on this dedicated, elderly couple, but fortunately, there is a far easier way to save water. Every kilogram of meat we eat requires up to 100,000 litres of water to produce, so if we simply reduce our meat intake by one kilogram a week we can save far more water than we could ever hope to save by carting bath water.

JENNY MOXHAM, Monbulk
