GRAHAM Reilly (Opinion, 3/8) tastelessly attempts to turn the eating of dog into a humorous story. In truth, eating dog meat is supporting a hideously sadistic and cruel trade.

Animals destined for the dog-meat market are kept in cramped, filthy cages before being tortured, the bizarre myth being that their meat will then bolster a man's flagging sexual energy. Dogs are killed by beating and slow strangulation and many have their fur blow-torched off while still alive and in full view of the next victims.
