Letter to the Editor by Jenny Moxham: If we all ate veggies, we'd save water - 31 Oct 2007

If we all ate veggies, we'd save water

WHILE many people may be sceptical about global warming, one thing is certain. Fresh water is becoming increasingly scarce around the globe. The CSIRO has told us that livestock farming uses hundreds of thousands of litres one kilogram of beef requires up to 100,000 litres of water to produce. Surely it's insane to keep squandering this precious commodity on something that isn't necessary.

If our Government refuses to address this problem, we as individuals can. Tomorrow is World Vegan Day, a perfect day to kick the meat habit.
