Letter from Nikki Howard about Slaughterhouse Conditions - 13 May 2008

I am writing to inquire any information on getting involved in improving slaughterhouse conditions. I am interesting in volunteering for any cause here in the state of Texas. I think it's awful what I've been researching about the cruel treatment of these animals prior to their deaths. Please guide me to any local or national organization to get involved in.

Dear Nikki:

Thank you very much for writing and for your desire to help.

This is a very complicated problem that is driven by money. The flesh eating public wants to have inexpensive animal products, and the more the farmed animal industries try to hold down costs, the more suffering they cause to animals on their farms and in their slaughterhouses.

Furthermore, very few of the animal cruelty laws that do exist are being enforced, and the few reforms that are happening are like drops in a bucket.

This is why we and most of the other organizations who are trying to stop the suffering have come to the conclusion that to end the suffering, we must end the consumption of animal products by informing the public of the suffering they are contributing to, and encouraging them to switch to a plant based diet.

Please take a look at www.all-creatures.org/articles/act.html and let us know some of the specifics of how you would like to get involved.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
