Letter from Robbie About Sealife Captives in Aquariums - 1 Aug 2010

I was shocked and appalled on my first and last visit to any aquarium, The Georgia Aquarium yesterday.

The realization to two whale sharks were housed in such a confining state made me ashamed and dismayed of our human need to be entertained by animals. The numbers of sea life packed into that aquarium is preposterous! Manta rays weighing 600 lbs, two whale sharks, many sharks of varying sizes and types, and enormous amounts of other fish with hardly any room to share an environment.

No sealife lives that way! Those whale sharks have nothing more to do then swim in circles. I watched a hammerhead shark in an obvious nervous frenzy swimming in circles, his head cocked unnaturally and obviously experiencing duress.

This has to stop! What organization can I become active with to protest and work towards having these aquariums banned and made illegal?

Dear Robbie:

Thank you very much for writing and telling us about your awakening to the horrors of these animal exhibits.

We all need to work to end all forms of animal exploitation.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
