Support THE RIGHT TO RESCUE.
After six hours of deliberation, a 12-person jury in Merced County,
California delivered a NOT GUILTY verdict in the Foster Farms Trial.
Alicia and Alexandra were fully acquitted of theft charges for
rescuing Ethan and Jax, two chickens, from a Foster Farms slaughter
truck in September 2021.
This is the second acquittal for open rescue in history, following
our Smithfield Trial win in October. And we have three more trials
to go this year. With each courtroom victory, we chip away at the
current legal view of animals as mere things and get one step closer
to enshrining the Right to Rescue.
We have the momentum and we cannot stop now. This June, hundreds of
people are uniting to take action for the Right to Rescue at the
2023 Animal Liberation Conference. If you want to help save lives
just like we did at the last four conferences, register to join us
here.
Our attorney Chris Carraway said in his closing statements that the
jurors should reach the “just and compassionate” verdict. They did
just that. Because rescuing animals is not a crime. On behalf of
Ethan, Jax, Alicia, Alexandra, and all other animals in need of
help, thank you for being a part of this victory.
