2 Samuel 22:3 New Living Translation

My God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence.

To think an all-powerful God has made Himself available to us at all times is a comforting and amazing thought.  There is nothing in life that can defeat us as long as we stay under the wings of the Almighty.  We may not always get our way and we may feel that we lost a battle, but God is close to carry us through those dark times.

God has made Himself our rock. Rock in this case refers to a mass of connected rock.  It is a place where one can stand comfortably and safely.   This is our God; a safe and steady place to stand.    The psalmist found great comfort in knowing that God was His protector, just as He is our protector.   As our shield He blocks the attacks of the enemy and keeps us safely surrounded by His power.   God allows us the freedom to run to Him when we need to hide away from the world and all its stress and fear. But even before we get to the point of needing to hide….

Psalm 46:1 New King James Version….God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

We can be assured that God is always and forever close to us and ready to respond to our needs.    Sometimes it “feels” like God has forsaken us, but this is not true because the word says in Deuteronomy 31:6 New King James Version…..6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.

God does not lie.  Any one of us who are becoming closer to God will go through times of loneliness and feeling abandoned, frustration and desperation, but we must remember that these are seasons and these seasons will pass.

Challenge:   God is everything He says is. He says this through the words of the psalmist.  We must believe what God says in His word even when it does not feel like He is there for us.  Believe the words and God will prove it in action

God bless,

Marni

lamb-rightThe purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate, and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not Christian.
