A whisper

Let me whisper of hope
on roads choked by animal trucks.
In lines of abattoir.
In eyes of animal.

Let my breathy rasp
grow to a roar,
when faced with hatred,
bigotry and dominance.

Let us plaster painted words
of blinding truth,
to be reborn in shape
of a decent human being.

Let us scrub human hierarchy
and self-importance.
A vanity,
profane and old.

Let me whisper to you,
‘No change ever came easy.’
But change comes,
just the same...
