Poems of compassion dedicated to the non-human animals who share this planet with us and the people who fight for them.
Beautiful light,
in brown eyes.
You watch and I imagine we converse.
What do you see as you gaze across green fields?
Warmth of evening sun.
Amber bathed world.
We share this.
We share everything.
Yet because my cognition runs
rampant, we use you.
Disregard the life within.
Yet here we are.
You and me.
Brown eyed, both.
Born into different herds.
So much the same.
We watch the dying light.
We know the truth of wanting to live, for just another day
in this world.
