Animal Rights and Other Poetry By Shenita Etwaroo From

All of God's creatures have rights, a fact that most people don't seem to recognize. This includes both human and non-human animals, but not all of them can speak for themselves.

By Shenita Etwaroo

Can you hear them?

They’re calling out to you.

A trillion voices, all lifted up,

Their song in discord,

A melancholy plea.

Does the call for Justice reach your ears

When you look down at your breakfast plate?

A meal of anguish rests between your fork and knife.
