A REASON FOR BEING
Poetry by M. Linda Steffey
What good is Sky without Birds
Winging and bringing color?
Without their songs all day long
Our world would be much duller...
What good is Earth without Trees?
The Grass and Flowers growing?
God made the greens, reds, and blues
For She is wise and knowing!
What good are Oceans big and small
Without the Fish and Whale?
She gave the Waters such bounty
And gave Man knowledge to sail...
Each thing has a reason for Being
Like Birds, the Beasts...even Trees...
The Flowers and Man and his family
And the Fish and even the Seas!
Each is a link in a long chain
From which each upon it depends
And if one link disappears?
Life as we know it may end!
I say that each thing is Special
Precious, delicate, bright
Treasure each Life's importance...
And let each Live 'neath God's Light!
