Corruption in Government and Religion Continues
Poetry by Mary T. Hoffman

Who is this Man who dares to break
tradition’s hold on all that’s dear
to crafty despots, those who make
the masses cower in fear?

They call Him Jesus and the Lord;
the masses follow Him, you see.
We rulers hardly can afford
to let Him walk around so free.

The masses line His path with palms,
they cry Hosanna to the sky,
they sing their hymns and ancient psalms.
The time draws near for Him to die.

We’ll make up lies to smear His Name.
There’s one solution: He must die!
Accuse, we must, and bring to shame
this Man whom we must crucify!

The fickle masses cringe and cower.
They turn against the One who’s True.
They listen to the ones in power.
The Godly ones are all too few.
